I did enjoy reading the Railway Children, although it is extremely dated. I do not know how much a more modern person, or child, would feel about reading it. It is an old fashioned, very simple, and sweet story, without much real excitement, for modern audiences. It might be a good story to read aloud to children just learning to read. A lovely read - even for an adult
Good story --my daughter loved it.
I had never heard of this author before, but I'm so glad I got this book. Wonderfully written, engaging storyline. This is a book I'll definitely be sharing with my family.

Good book, crisp writing. The children are funny and I love all the childlike discoveries .
Love the English the children use.
Loved the story. The print and paper quality of the paperback were better than most, but it lacked pictures. The pictures were on the cheaper version, not the best quality, but some were nice. I'd say this book is on a 5th, 6th, or 7th grade reading level. I'm an Oasis volunteer for a 4th grader who struggles in reading, and she found it too difficult. I personally enjoyed reading the book on my . I bought a copy for both my grandson and granddaughter who turn 12 this summer. The book teaches that a reversal in circumstances doesn't have to defeat you.
